Marilyn is an enthusiastic senior leader with over 20 years of global business and sustainability experience. She enjoys the pursuit of big ideas and collaborating for positive impact. As Chief Operations Officer, Marilyn leads all aspects of sustainability operations, helping companies advance the Sustainable Development Goals. With experience working at both large publicly traded companies and in smaller start-up environments, Marilyn’s entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen is driving further innovation and growth for Brand VO2, partners, and clients.
Marilyn promotes the SDGs in a number of ways. She spoke on a panel at the Sustainable Brands 2019 conference on the topic of Prioritization and Scaling Action on the UN SDGs. She is also a co-author for the SDG Corporate Guidebook Series, launching in 2020, and enjoys working locally with middle-school children, introducing them to the SDGs.
Marilyn launched and led the world-class global sustainability efforts at IHS Markit (Nasdaq:INFO) for 10 years, where the company earned many Sustainability accolades including consecutive years of recognition on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Marilyn is a regular speaker and presenter on Sustainability related topics and has been an active member of the International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) for many years. While President of the ISSP Board, Marilyn worked with professionals from around the world in developing and launching the ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional certification and is herself a certified sustainability professional (ISSP-CSP).
Marilyn received her Master’s Degree in Health Science from the University of Toronto; her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Health and Education from Queen’s University, Canada. A continuous learner, Marilyn has also completed the Seattle University Executive Leadership Program, University of California Irvine – Leadership in Sustainability Program and has an Expert level Continual Improvement for Social Responsibility (CISR) certification.
Marilyn enjoys volunteering, traveling, new adventures and time with friends and family. She is the President of her local National Charity League chapter, and can often be found on the tennis court or cheering on her kids in their sports. She lives in Bellevue, Washington with her husband Paul of 18 years and their Daughter Taylor and Son Andrew.
